Three Days (for the Mind to Calm Down)
I notice my breath is short in the morning. I notice it takes my mind about 25 minutes to settle down. Or maybe it’s just that I relax when 10-minutes-left bell rings? Probably time to weed that bell out. A crutch no longer really needed.
There was a very nice couple from the Santa Barbara area at the daylong retreat I did with Trudy Goodman at InsightLA. At the end of the day she asked people to talk a little to our neighbors. The fellow had been on quite a few longer retreats and said it takes about 3 days(!) for the mind to really calm down. Hmmm.
